Extramarital affair goes wrong; victim fighting for life in hospital
Au00a0woman has been accused of setting her lover on fire. The victim, a construction worker named Sunil Ahirrao (32), is fighting for his life in hospital.
The accused was identified as Jamila Shaikh. The police said another man, Jubair Jabbar Shaikh, whom Jamila considered her brother, was the second accused in the case.
The police said Jamila worked in massage parlour. The incident took place on Tuesday on an isolated stretch in Salisbury Park near Advetis Hospital at 8.30 pm. Senior PI Rajkumar Gaikwad of the Swargate police station said the incident took place when Ahirrao, a Chinchwad resident, came to Salisbury Park to meet his girlfriend, with whom he had some argument.
Jubair, a notorious criminal, also reached the spot where Ahirrao was meeting Jamila and asked him to return some money he had given him.
After some arguing, Jubair and Jamila poured kerosene on Ahirrao and set him ablaze, said the police.
Ahirrao suffered serious burns in the incident.
The police said Ahirrao was married with two children, while Jamila was separated from her husband and living with her daughter in the Lohiya Nagar slums.
Ahirrao was admitted to Surya Hospital, said Gaikwad.
At the hospital, Ahirrao's relatives refused to speak on the incident.
"Jubair Shaikh was involved in 10 serious offenses, including housebreaking, robbery and extortion," said Gaikwad. "He was also externed from city limits for two years. Jubair and Jamila considered each other as brother and sister."
The police made no arrests yesterday. API Varsha Patil of the Swargate police station was investigating the case.
