The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) yesterday declared that their prelim exams, which were scheduled for April 7, would be postponed. The decision was taken following opposition from candidates over the mere 48-hour time given by the commission to candidates for re-registration.
A couple of days ago, the MPSC had realised that it has lost data of around 3.5 lakh candidates, who have registered for prelim exam, due to a virus attack on its server.
Hence, the MPSC gave 2 days' time to candidates to re-register online. "The state government has decided to postpone state services prelim exam scheduled on April 7. The new dates of exam will get declared afterwards," stated a statement published by the MPSC on its website yesterday. However, there was no information about the date till when the candidates can re-register themselves.
"We hope that that they'll give us sufficient time to re-register online," said one of the candidates Dinesh Mali. "I believe that the MPSC will not be able to conduct the exam this month. It may be held sometime in May, as almost all Sundays in April are packed with dates for the Staff Service Commission (SSC) exam," said another candidate. u00a0Despite repeated attempts, MPSC Chairman Sudhir Thakre wasn't available for comment. u00a0
