Taking a leaf out of Narendra Modi's good governance book, chief minister Yeddyurappa plans to keep tabs on local service providers.
Inspired by the Gujarat CM, Yeddyurappa will prepare progress cards for BBMP, BDA, BESCOM, BMRDA and BMTC.
Buoyed by the fact that his government completed 200 years in office last month, Yeddyurappa now appears to have decided that he can devote more time and energy to development issues. A team of experts will be helping the CM in getting this process started.
The CM will present the idea during the city progress review meeting that was delayed due to the recent by-polls.u00a0u00a0u00a0
"Performance of service providers will be evaluated," said a source in the CMO (Chief Minister's Office).
"Progress cards will show their performance and help set goals in the days ahead."
Progress reportThe method is reportedly on the lines ofu00a0 Modi's method, wherein he assesses his government's performance in Ahmedabad every six months.
Yeddyurappa has conveyed a series of meetings with experts from various fields. This includes infrastructure, urban governance and finance experts. They will be reviewing the progress and performance of local service providers.
"Yes, we have been called to review the progress by local service providers," said M N Srihari, special advisor to CM on infrastructure. "This method is to ensure better governance in days ahead."
Aspects to be considered while preparing progress cards include infrastructure development, public issues that have been addressed as well as new initiatives adopted to improve governance.
It works well
Modi has been following this method for some time now, with good results.
"Modi is known for his constant supervision over the performance of local service providers," said Pranav Mehta, former official with Reliance, Gujarat.
Yeddyurappa will not only evaluate the progress, but also set goals to be achieved by service providers.
