After the court extended his police custody by four days, now the Goa police have slapped additional charges against him for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman colleague.
An official from the Goa Crime Branch said that Tejpal was now slapped with sections 341 (wrongful restraint) and 342 (wrongful confinement) too.
Investigating officials said that the sections were added after the victim's, witnesses' statements were taken down. They also looked through the CCTV footage of the hotel where the alleged incident took place.
Tejpal, who was arrested and remanded to police custody, was booked under sections 354-A (sexual harassment, physical contact, advances involving unwelcome and explicit sexual overtures, or any other unwelcome physical, verbal or non-verbal conduct of sexual nature), 376 (rape) and 376(2)(k) (rape by a person of a woman in his custody taking advantage of his official position) under the Indian Penal Code.
Meanwhile, former managing editor of Tehelka Shoma Chaudhury spent five hours giving her statement to the Chief Judicial Magistrate in Goa.
