The wedding was held in Chennai and the reception was conducted in a city five star hotel. The entire occasion followed tradition, and even the couple greeted and thanked guests without the usual handshake.
Murthy and his wife Sudha Murthy played perfect hosts at the reception, which was attended by effluent personalities of the business arena, political circles and well-known persons from the cultural scene. As per Sudha's liking, Kannada poetry recitations continued throughout with subtle instrumental music in the background.
Fond memories
"I am a connoisseur of Kannada literature and it was a great feeling to have played the poetry at an occasion like this. It is a tribute to our literature and culture," said Sudha. The newlyweds made an entry in style. Congratulatory handshakes were not the mode for the occasion and the traditional joining of hands and a slight bow was how the couple thanked the guests. "We wanted to keep it traditional. The guest list included elders and greats of the land and we thought it better to seek their blessings by paying our respects to them rather than a simple handshake," said Rohan.
Truly touching
"I am touched by the elegance, simplicity and humbleness of the Murthys, who never want to forget their roots," said V Ravichandar, CEO of Feedback Business Consulting Services. The menu was dominated by local delicacies of the state including Jolada Rotti (jowar roti) and Raggi Payasam (millet kheer).
