Punjabi food has a loyal fan following in this city

Punjabi food has a loyal fan following in this city. How else do you explain the slew of Punjabi food fests that are unveiled with unfailing regularity? As I make my way tou00a0 Copper Chimney for the Amritsari Food Festival, I pray that I won't have to chew my way through cliches like makki roti and sarson saag. And I am happy to report that my prayers were answered. The aam ka panna was the perfect drink for the sultry evening. It filled me with enough spirit to tackle the Lahori Batti da Aloo and Reshmi Murgh Til tikka, both perfectly spiced morsels. However, the Achaari Murgh needed serious tweaking. My vegetarian companion reported that the Sarson Gobhiyon ke Phool was succulent with the delicate flavour of turmeric.

And, lest die-hard Makki di Roti fans return disappointed, there was plenty of the stuff along with Amritsari Kulche, Methi Missi Roti and Palak ki Roomali. The Methi Missi Roti, teamed with Dhabe de Meat, was a revealation. The Chole and the Veg Biryani were disappointing, but redemption arrived in the form of Chicken Biryani. Though we (weakly) protested when dessert was announced, the fragrant Ganne ki Kheer had us dipping our spoons into the bowl till we could truly eat no more. Don't plan on getting any work done after this hearty repast.
