Are just some of the things in store this year at the soon-to-begin Delhi International Arts Festival
Delhi's art box is only getting bigger and richer by the day. Just weeks ago, it was the grand India Art Summit that hit town, followed by PSBT's Open Frame festival and the OSIAN fest somewhere in between, and now, it's the Delhi International Arts Festival's (DIAF) turn. The show brings in artists, writers, culture connoisseurs and tradition-hunting tourists from across the globe every year, and this time around, the schedule reads spicier than ever. We tell you why you must mark your calendar.

Kashmir calling
Held under the aegis of the Prasiddha Foundation, DIAF 2009 is all about fine arts, film, heritage, literary, dance, music, puppetry and a heritage high. "It is aimed at bringing a visual kaleidoscope of varied forms under one roof. There is no dearth of individual art form in the city, but a comprehensive festival like this is worth the effort," says Festival director Prathibha Prahlad. There are also interesting debuts in store. Together, 180 artists will perform at the Jammu and Kashmir Festival, a sub-fest. They will present the culture of the state as holistically as possible. This apart, the National Archives joins the line-up of national institutions partnering DIAF with a specially mounted exhibition called Personal Archives. Highlights of this exhibition include the family tree of Rani Lakshmi Bai, along with the ashes of freedom fighter Sukhdev.
