Local train services on Mumbai's Central line were disrupted for some time on Wednesday bringing to a standstill the city's lifeline due to snapping of a power cable.
The technical snag that occurred between CST and Masjid brought the train services connecting the city to a stop and caused severe inconvenience to thousands of commuters heading home at peak hour.
The culprit behind the hard time suffered by thousands of commuters from 5.40 pm to 6.45 pm was a single cable that spans across all six lines. This got entangled to the pantograph of an Asangaon-bound fast train between Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) and Masjid Bunder.

During this time, train services were being run between Dadar to Kalyan/Karjat/Kasara and from Wadala back to Andheri/Panvel.
"The train services finaly began running properly by 8.15pm. But nearly 60 suburban services could be canceleld till midnight," said a CR official.
Further details are awaited.
