The low pressure zone created over the capital is likely to bring thundershowers Wednesday, bringing down the temperature after a hot and sultry week.
"The sky will be partly clear in the morning but the low pressure zone created by the heat is likely to make the sky comparatively cloudy. A thunderstorm and rain can be expected in the afternoon," an official at the Safdarjung Meteorological Office told IANS.
The maximum temperature recorded early Wednesday was 39 degrees Celsius, around four degrees below the high recorded Tuesday.
"The thunderstorm and rain will bring down the temperature and a fall in the mercury level can be expected," the official added.
The humidity level has fallen to 52 per cent.
