The body of an unidentified man, with his throat slit, was found in the railway yard in south Mumbai on Monday.

The man, appearing to be over 25 years of age, was spotted lying in a pool of blood by an RPF constable, who immediately alerted the N M Joshi Marg police station.

"Prima facie, the deceased has suffered multiple stab wounds. There are several injuries and some of the wounds were still bleeding profusely. Also, the deceased's throat was slit with a sharp object," said Inspector Sudhakar Ghagare of the NM Joshi Marg police station.

The deceased might have been murdered at least 12 hours ago (early Monday), he added. Police said that the dead man's T-shirt has the mark of a tailor who is from Bhiwandi and they would follow up this clue in order to identify him. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact manner of his death.u00a0
