Subhangi Kiran Bhosle hanged herself with a dupatta when her nine-month-old baby was playing with her mother-in-law on the ground floor of the family's two-storeyed house in Ambewadi, Bhandup (West).
Her husband and father-in-law were not at home when Subhangi ended her life. "On the basis of medical and circumstantial evidence, it clearly looks like a case of suicide," Senior Police Inspector Shrirang Vyasrao Nadgauda of the Bhandup police station said. Married for two years, the couple hit a rocky patch about a month ago, said the police.
"For the past one month, relations between husband and wife had not been good, which might have given rise to frustration and depression and led to the suicide," Nadgauda said, adding, "If her parents or siblings make any allegations, we will file a case against her husband and his family."
On the fateful night, Subhangi proceeded to the first floor after dinner.
Around 11 pm, her mother-in-law grew worried as an hour had passed without any sound from Subhangi. Her mother-in-law called Subhangi several times but did not get an answer. Finding the door to the room Subhangi was in locked from inside, she called the neighbours, and they called the police. The police broke open the door to find Subhangi hanging lifeless from the ceiling fan. The body was sent for post-mortem.u00a0
