Six persons have been arrested for a robbery at an angadia office in south Mumbai earlier this month, in which Rs 75 lakh was looted at gunpoint.
Around 7.15 pm on October 4, six armed men - two carrying guns and another a knife - stormed into an angadia office on Dr Kawasji Street in Dhobi Talao. They beat up the staff, threatened them with death and decamped with Rs 75 lakh in cash.
Employees Ashutosh Upadhyaay (27), Santosh Choudhary (28), Amit Ansari (28) and Mahesh Thanvi (47) sustained injuries in the melee.
The Azad Nagar police immediately formed a team to track down the robbers. During their investigation, they found that the angadia service had shifted to the Dhobi Talao office just 15 days prior. Suspecting that the robbery was an inside job since not many would have known about the change in address, the police began to work on this lead.
The investigation led them to six persons, who were arrested last night, said a police source. The suspected robbers were set to be produced in court today.
