Viral video: Mangaluru cop catches thief by dodging traffic

A video of a Mangaluru cop chasing a mobile phone thief following a dramatic chase is going viral on social media. On January 12, three men had snatched a mobile phone near Nehru Maidan. After a relentless chase through narrow lanes and wide roads, the police official finally caught the criminal.

For this heroic act, the Mangaluru City Police Commissioner on January 13 announced a Rs 10,000 cash reward for Assistant Sub-Inspector Varun Alva and felicitated him. During the investigation, it was found that the accused operated in Mangalore city and have been involved in several thefts and robberies.

Social media also applauded the bravery of the concerned policeman.
