Michelle Obama delivered an intensely personal plea for the man she met when they were âso young, so in love, and so in debt' to be re-elected because âchange is hard, and change is slow, and it never happens all at once'.u00a0
The First Lady, whose eyes welled with tears by the end of her speech, steered clear of party politics but spoke at length about her and her husband's humble origins.
Headlining the first night of the Democratic National Convention, the First Lady seized the primetime moment, sounding confident, heartfelt and politically wholesome as she delivered an impassioned defense of her spouse, who is locked in a fierce race with Republican rival Mitt Romney.
"After so many struggles and triumphs and moments that have tested my husband in ways I never could have imagined, I have seen firsthand that being president doesn't change who you are - it reveals who you are," Michelle Obama said, triggering raucous cries of "Four more years! Four more years!" from the crowd.

The First Lady added, "I love that we can trust Barack to do what he says he's going to do, even when it's hard - especially when it's hard."
"I see how those stories - our [nation's] collection of struggles and hopes and dreams - I see how that's what drives Barack Obama every single day."
Looking stunning in a custom Tracy Reese dress, the self-dubbed âMom-in-Chief' took the stage and admitted she had been wary about moving her family to the White House.
"While I believed deeply in my husband's vision for this country," she said, "And I was certain he would make an extraordinary president, like any mother, I was worried about what it would mean for our girls if he got that chance." But, she insisted: "Barack Obama is still the same man I fell in love with all those years ago."
