Hippo, the family pet

Meet Jessica, a 1-ton pet hippopotamus who enjoys bonding with the family dog at home in South Africa.

A decade after she was first rescued by a game ranger, she has become a full-fledged member of his family, even if she's gotten too gargantuan to sleep in a bed.

The beast has a hippo-bottomless appetite, too. She consumes two gallons of coffee a day and piles of sweet potatoes.

"I have been a game ranger all my life, and I have never seen anything like her," said Jessica's father, Tonie Joubert in astonishment.
