Pippa Middleton, Prince William's sister-in-law, could face prison time after a friend allegedly pointed a gun at a photographer while they were in Paris.

Pippa Middleton, the sister-in-law of Prince William and one of the most photographed women on earth, has been questioned by French police after one of her friends pulled out a pistol and pointed it at a photographer.

The 27-year-old Pippa and three male friends were in a car in Paris, when the driver took out a pistol and brandished it. He waved it in the air and pointed it at a photographer, The Sun reported.

All the other friends are seen laughing at his act.

The daily said the Paris Judicial Police may launch a probe, and Pippa faces arrest.

"If the evidence points to her involvement, she will be prosecuted. Anybody involved in the illegal use of a handgun in public is liable to arrest and interrogation," a source told the daily.

If the gun was real, brandishing it in a public place is punishable by up to seven years in jail for everyone involved, including Pippa.

Even if it was a fake, the jail term is two years.

Pippa was in Paris for a weekend fancy dress party.
