Investigation in the killing of a 31-year-old gangster Sachin Dhawde alias Gotya revealed that Ankush Landge's 20-year-old son Rahul - the main conspirator - and his accomplice pumped seven bullets into Gotya before fleeing the spot.
According to police, Rahul didn't want his killing bid to fail and hence he and other assailants practiced firearm shooting at a municipal gym in the area. "We have recovered the second pistol, a cartridge, and two sharp weapons that the accused had dumped in Indrayani river after eliminating Gotya," said DCP (Zone III) Shahaji Umap.
He added that Rahul wanted to avenge his father's death and was eager to end Gotya's terror. "Apart with getting in touch with his friends, Rahul also contacted Gotya's enemies for support. They used to assemble at the gym and practice firearm shooting. Besides, the kept an eye on Gotya and used binoculars to monitor his movement," said Umap.
