The 6ft 2in Russian fifth seed now faces German wildcard Sabine Lisicki in the last four for a place in the final.
Lisicki defeated French ninth seed Marion Bartoli 6-4, 6-7 (4/7), 6-1.
Czech eighth seed Petra Kvitovau00a0 secured a place in the semi-finals for the second successive year with a 6-3, 6-7 (5/7), 6-2 win over Bulgaria's Tsvetana Pironkova in a hard fought battle.
