This marks the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister to Kuwait in 43 years, highlighting the strengthening ties between India and Kuwait. On his arrival, PM Modi was welcomed by Kuwait's Deputy Prime Minister, Defence Minister, Interior Minister, and Foreign Minister, reflecting the importance of his visit.
PM Modi engaged in informal discussions with Kuwait's Amir, Crown Prince, and Prime Minister during the grand opening ceremony. At the ‘Hala Modi’ event, PM Modi addressed the Indian diaspora, celebrating their contributions to Kuwait’s growth and India-Kuwait relations.
PM Modi underscored India's transformation as the fifth-largest economy, its leadership in fintech, and its status as the second-largest mobile manufacturing country. PM Modi emphasised India's potential as the skill capital of the world and highlighted opportunities for collaboration with Kuwait in fintech, healthcare, and green technology.
PM Modi discussed initiatives like the e-Migrate portal, which streamlines manpower solutions and ensures the welfare of Indian workers abroad. PM Modi reflected on the enduring cultural connections between India and Kuwait, noting instances like late actor Dilip Kumar inaugurating Kuwait's first Indian restaurant.
PM Modi invited the diaspora to participate in key Indian events, including Pravasi Bharatiya Divas and Maha Kumbh in January 2025, to foster stronger cultural ties. PM Modi highlighted the alignment of India's focus on innovation and Kuwait's goal to become a dynamic economy, positioning both nations as partners in prosperity.
