Defending champions Air India (Delhi) managed to edge past Western Railway by two runs in an exciting league match of the Rs 10 lakh Dr D Y Patil Twenty20 cricket tournament at the D Y Patil Cricket Stadium, Nerul yesterday.
Batting first, lusty hitting by J Arunkumar (57), Deepak Joon (47) and R R Parida (45) helped Air India post 195 for 3 in their 20 overs. In reply, opening bat Parag Madkaikar scored 66 and had two fruitful partnerships of 54 and 45 with Ahad Malik (34) and Mukesh Singh (9) respectively to bring Western Railway close to the target.
The railwaymen missed out narrowly.
In another close encounter, BPCL got past Reliance Industries by three runs, bowling them out for 118 after scoring 121 for 6.
