The Indian Cricket League today said they will not renew the contracts of some of its players and support staffs whose contracts have expired, thereby handing them an opportunity to return to the official fold.
The rebel league, however, didn't mention the identity of the players and the staffs whose contacts they have decided not to renew.
"Taking forward it's Sports Performance Evaluation (SPE) process across all cricket operations, the ICL management has decided not to renew the contracts of some of the ICL players and support staff that have expired. As cricket professionals they can are free to decide and explore their options," ICL Business Head, Himanshu Mody said in a statement.
The ICL decision's can be seen as blessing in disguise for the concerned players and the support staffs as the BCCI has lifted the ban on players aligned with the rebel league on condition that they severed all their ties with Essel Group-backed league.
