Mahela Jayawardene will step down as Sri Lanka's cricket captain after the upcoming Test series in Pakistan, a top official said on Wednesday.
"We have accepted Mahela's resignation," Sri Lanka Cricket chief executive Duleep Mendis told AFP. "But it will happen after Sri Lanka's tour of Pakistan ends."
Jayawardene's decision to quit came after India completed a 4-1 rout of Sri Lanka in the recent one-day series.
