Batsman Jesse Ryder is hopeful of a return to the New Zealand side for their home series against England

Ryder was dropped for a one-day international match against South Africa last March after breaking team protocol and has not featured for the Black Caps since.

However, a first-class average of 69.75 for domestic side Willington this season could boost his hopes of a recall, with New Zealand floundering with the bat in their two-Test series against South Africa.

"There is a meeting on the 29th coming up when the coach is back (from South Africa) so we'll see how that goes," Ryder was quoted by the New Zealand Herald as telling radio show LiveSport.

"I'm definitely not ruled out for a return for England," he added.
