His hunger to be part of the XI also arises from the fact that Graeme Smith & Co are not scheduled to play any Test early in the new year.
Smith however adopted a cautious approach, saying a final call on Morkel would be taken just before the game. "One thing is sure. He is very keen to play the match. The only problem is if he breaks down, we will be left with a bowler short. This is a situation we don't want to find ourselves in. That's why we are yet to take a final decision," Smith explained.
