The Sachin Tendulkar wax statue that was unveiled in Sydney a week ago by Madame Tussauds, will adorn a new shirt after MiD DAY informed the famous wax museum of a flaw in attire.

The statue that was displayed to cricket fans including the Swami Army at the Sydney Cricket Ground on April 21, had an ICC World T20 shirt. However, Tendulkar has not figured in any of the four ICC World T20 events since inception in 2007.

In fact, the batting maestro has played only one Twenty20 international - against South Africa in Johannesburg in the 2006-07 season.

Responding to MiD DAY's communication over the wrong shirt, the museum's spokesperson said, "Sachin is wearing a shirt that features a motif from the 2012 World Twenty20 Tournament. We apologise for this error as we acknowledge that Sachin did not play in this tournament. We will be looking to update the shirt in the near future to represent Sachin from the 2011 World Cup, in which he played."

Madame Tussauds also confirmed that the Tendulkar wax work is, "a permanent resident at their Sydney attraction."

Tendulkar is only the third cricketer to be honoured at the museum situated at the picturesque Darling Harbour. Sir Don Bradman and Shane Warne are the other two. Madame Tussauds' first Tendulkar wax work was unveiled in London four Aprils ago.

The great Indian took pride in the fact that this honour is connected to Bradman, who he met in Adelaide 1998 to wish him on his 90th birthday. He revealed that Bradman's answer to a question on his Test average was most memorable in that conversation. Here's how it went:

Tendulkar: What would you have averaged in today's cricket?
Bradman: Maybe 70
Tendulkar: Why only 70? Why not 99.94? (Bradman's Test average)
Bradman: C'mon son, it's not bad for a 90-year-old man!

"Now, that was something," Tendulkar told MiD DAY. "Normally, any player would have asked that (question). And at the age of 90, he had a terrific sense of humour. The response was superb."
