Former Indian cricket team captain Kapil Dev turned 64 today.
Famously known as the Haryana Hurricane, Kapil Dev is the greatest fast-bowling all-rounder India has ever produced. He will always be remembered for his aggressive batting and out swingers, for leading the Indian team to a World Cup victory in 1983.

In his debut match at the age of 19 against Pakistan, he scored his maiden test century against West Indies at Feroz Shah Kotla stadium in Delhi in just 124 balls. On his first tour to England, he took 5 wickets. In the 131 tests he has played for the country, Kapil has scored 5248 runs with his highest score being 163.

Throughout his career, he has played 225 matches in the ODI format and has scored 3783 runs with a highest score of 175.
Kapil Dev was awarded as "Indian Cricketer of the Century" in the year 2002. He has also been honoured with Arjuna Award and Padma Bhushan awards by Indian Government.
Today, on his birthday Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and BCCI took to social media to wish him. Sachin shared an old picture of him posing with Kapil Dev and wrote, "A ten-year-old boy saw Kapil Dev lifting the 1983 World Cup and started dreaming of winning another one for India. That boy was me. Happy birthday, Kapil Paaji! May you continue to inspire millions".
