No one ever knew a boy from Bandra, who one day would turn out to be one of the greatest batsmen in cricket history. Sachin Tendulkar scored 2,278 runs in just 44 innings. He also holds the distinction for most centuries in world cricket which is 100 centuries. His highest score in the World Cup is 152 runs

Australia's legendary captain Ricky Ponting comes second on the list. The Australian team had lifted the World Cup 3 times under his captaincy. He scored 1,743 runs in just 42 innings. His highest score in the World Cup is 140 runs

Kumar Sangakkara, Sri Lanka's wicket-keeper batsman holds the third position in the list. He has a total of 1,532 runs in 35 innings. His highest score in the World Cup is 124 runs

West Indies monster-batter Brian Lara has scored 1,225 runs in the World Cup and enjoys the 4th position on the list. He was a threat to bowl at his time. His highest score in the World Cup is 116 runs

Mr 360 of the Cricket World - Ab de Villiers, is 5th in the ranking. His highest score is 162 runs and has scored a total of 1,207 runs in the World Cup. His batting left a strong impact on the new generations to play shots all around the ground. Cricket fans across the world celebrated his batting

'Boss' Chris Gayle ranks 6th. He scored 1186 runs in the World Cup and his highest score is 215 runs. He has a record for most sixes in the tournament  under his belt which is 49
