Mohammed Siraj started the bowling attack on Day 2 as Travis Head and Steve Smith walked to the middle to continue their strong partnership.

Steve Smith smashed his 31st Test century and equalled Joe Root’s record of most Test tons against India.

Siraj took a crucial wicket in the 92nd over, dismissing Travis Head, followed by wickets by other bowlers. Axar Patel’s impressive direct hit led to Michelle Starc's run out in 104th over. Pat Cummins was the last man to fall for Australia as the score was 469 all out in 121.3 overs. 

Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill opened the innings for India while Starc bowled the first over.

Pat Cummins took the first wicket, dismissing Rohit Sharma for 30 in the 6th over. India then lost wickets in quick succession with Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli being dismissed in the 7th, 14th and 19th overs respectively.

Ajinkya Rahane and Ravindra Jadeja built a strong 71-run partnership which came to an end with Jadeja being dismissed in the 35th over.

India ended the day at 151/5. They trail by 318 runs.
