Team India's former traditional opening batsman Gautam Gambhir took over the coaching responsibilities of the national side from July 9, 2024. He succeeded Rahul Dravid for the role who led the "Men in Blue" to left the T20 World Cup 2024 in Barbados

Since then, under Gambhir, the "Men in Blue" suffered their first ODI series defeat against Sri Lanka after 27 years. The first ODI match ended in a tie, followed by Sri Lanka securing victories by 32 runs and 110 runs, respectively in the last two 50-over games

Later, Team India had a strong record against New Zealand in Test cricket of not losing a series at home. Another unwanted record was registered under the former Delhi cricketer's name. India lost their first home Test series against the "Black Caps" after 12 years

One of the most talked about and iconic Test series in cricket history, the Border-Gavaskar Trophy is played between India and Australia. Initially, Team India secured a win in their first game which was led by Jasprit Bumrah in Rohit Sharma's absence. Later, the side suffered a 1-3 Test series defeat against the Aussies. The Australians regained the title by breaking India's strong and unbeaten string after 12 years

The next big event for the "Men in Blue" under Gautam Gambhir is the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025. The event will be hosted by Pakistan and all Team India matches are scheduled to be played in Dubai

The tournament will be a big turnaround for Gautam Gambhir if he manages to lead the side to reclaim the title
