Chad Johnson splits with wife of 41 days after tiff over condom purchase

Reality star Evelyn Lozada has filed for divorce from her husband Chad Johnson after just 41 days together, after the NFL star allegedly head-butted her during an argument over his purchase of a box of condoms.

According to the police report, the couple were unpacking groceries on Saturday night when Lozado found a receipt for a box of condoms in the trunk.

They sat in the driveway in their parked Smart Car, arguing, when Johnson grabbed Lozado and headbutted her.

Lozada filed legal documents in Florida, claiming that her marriage was "irretrievably broken" after a domestic violence incident on the weekend in which Johnson had allegedly head-butted her during an argument.

Lozada was treated in hospital for lacerations to her head and released a statement saying that she was "deeply disappointed" in her husband.

"Given the recent events that have taken place, Evelyn has decided to file for divorce and move on with her life," News.com.au quoted Lozada's lawyer, Michael B. Gilden, as saying on TV show ‘The Insider.'

The couple wed just six weeks ago on July 4 and the ceremony was taped for a reality show about the high-profile couple called ‘Ev and Ocho' - Johnson was formerly known as Chad Ochocinco - but it was shelved after his weekend arrest.

Johnson, a six-time Pro Bowler, publicly courted Lozada on the VH1 series ‘Basketball Wives.'
