Senior officers who held top posts in the past given special duties
It's back to basics for the Delhi police. The force, which is leaving nothing to chance in the wake of Commonwealth Games, has recalled its best officers from their postings out of the state.
The fact that the Delhi police is settling for nothing but the best is evident from the special posting of former senior cops.

These cops have been deployed in the games security with special posts and designations. The list of special officers is topped by from Alok Kumar, former Deputy Commissioner of Police of the Special Cell. He was transferred to Arunachal Pradesh after completion of his tenure. The Special Cell of Delhi police worked like the best counter terrorist force in India while Kumar was heading the team. He has been deployed as Deputy Venue Commander of Major Dhyanchand Stadium.
The second top cop who has been called back for the CWG is Devesh Chandra Srivastav, who is presently DIG, Arunachal Pradesh.
Srivastav served as DCP of North Delhi for a long time. He has been deployed ac a commander of C4I. The C4I is command control communication and integration centre of CWG. This centre is a control room for CWG and built on the 4th floor of the police headquarters. The Delhi Police operations at the CWG are controlled and managed from C4I only.
"These officers have been deployed temporarily for the CWG. After the Games all of them will return to their postings. The experienced cops will be of a great help for maintenance of security during such a mega event," said Rajan Bhagat, Addl DCP and PRO of Delhi Police.
Two more IPS officers Dinesh Kumar and RS Ghumman have also been deployed in CWG security. While Dinesh is posted as a Venue Commander of Samrat and Ashoka Hotels, Ghumman has been recalled from Chandigarh and deployed as a deputy venue commander of the two hotels.
Apart from these serving officers, former Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Qamar Ahmad has been asked to come out of retirement to join as Venue administrator of Jawaharlal Nehru stadium.
The Delhi police has reviewed the security of the CWG and deputation of additional paramilitary forces is in the process.

Several Western security agencies have been working closely with India to try to thwart militant attacks on the Commonwealth Games from Pakistan-based Islamist groups. In the past year intelligence officials from Australia, the United States, Britain and other European countries have been liaising with their Indian counterparts to prevent a strike that would stoke tension between the nuclear-armed neighbours. |
