While German driver Adrian Sutil could only manage 18th in Q1, British teammate Paul di Resta managed to enter Q2 and will start Sunday's race 12th.
The pole position was, however, clinched by Red Bull's Mark Webber, followed by his teammate Sebastian Vettel.
