Shiven Surendranath's Red Romeo (M Fenton up) won the Chief Minister's Gold Cup on the racetrack, but his trainer Cooji Katrak faced some anxious moments as jockey Niall McCullagh astride runner up Celestial Way, trained by Padmnabhan, protested against the winner, alleging interference in crucial moments of the race.
The stewards however ruled that the interference was not serious enough to call for a change in placings, and allowed Red Romeo to keep the race.
Interestingly, at the same time his protest was being overruled at Mahalaxmi, trainer Padmanabhan had bigger things to cheer for as his Leave It To Me, owned by the Poonawalla family, stylishly won the grade 2, Golconda Oaks at the Hyderabad racetrack.
The day's honours however once again belonged to trainer Pesi Shroff who continued his amazing run with yet another quadruple, among which was also the day's other feature event, Bahrain Trophy, that was won by Tender Romance (C Alford up).
