Formula One ace Lewis Hamilton and his girlfriend and singer Nicole Scherzinger stole the show as the celebrity couple at the annual amfAR Cinema Against AIDS gala held at the famous Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc during the 67th Cannes Film Festival in the South of France on Thursday night.

Hamilton is in nearby Monaco for the weekend's Formula One GP, and was enjoying the traditional day off before Saturday's qualifying session for Sunday's Grand Prix.
Six-year romance
The couple's on-off almost six-year romance (they've been dating since 2008) has been well documented with many claiming they would never last given their separate bases. The reason for their latest split last year was the fact that Hamilton (29) lives in Switzerland, while former Pussycat Doll Scherzinger resides in the US. Hamilton even claimed he was miserable after the split.
However, this year the couple got together again, and correspondingly Hamilton's F1 career seems to have taken off too. The Brit driver, who races for Mercedes is currently F1's World Championship leader having won four of the five races this far, and with 100 points to his name. On Thursday, media reports claimed that Hamilton simply could not get his eyes off his girl as the couple tasted the Monaco nightlife at the posh function.
Hamilton sported a Ferrari red dinner jacket and black bow-tie, while Scherzinger sported a black plunging off-shoulder gown. One report claimed that Hamilton looked like a kid in a sweet shop as he kept glancing in admiration towards Scherzinger.
Cuddling & caressing
The love birds even indulged in some PDA - cuddling and caressing each other at the dinner table - oblivious to their star-studded surroundings that included some of the world's leading models, Hollywood stars and entrepreneurs.
