Sachin Tendulkar's suggestion of giving more than 11 players an opportunity in a match has finally been accepted by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) and the unique concept will be implemented in the inaugural Bhaskar Thakur Memorial U-12 selection trial tournament.

The tournament, which will be played on a league-cum-knockout basis, begins on February 12 at Cross Maidan, Shivaji Park and Virar. Every squad can use 14 players who will be rotated by the captain if needed.

Tendulkar in 2013 had suggested a 15-players-a-side concept for inter-school and inter-college tournaments to encourage more opportunities for cricketers at the grass root level.
