Mary Kom entered the semifinals of the Asian Women's Boxing Championships defeating local favourite Nandinsetseg Myagmardul in Ulaanbataar, Mongolia yesterday.

The other Indians who are in the semifinals are Pinki Jangra (48 kgs), Sonia Lather (54 kgs), Sarita Devi (60 kgs), Bhagyabati Kachari (81 kgs) and Kavita Chahal (85 kgs).
It was a tough bout for Mary before she won 14:11. At the end of first round, Mary was down by 2:4. Later, with sound advice from her coach Anoop Kumar in the corner, Mary changed her mode of attack and started scoring with combination punches.
Her good footwork combined with sharp punches got her the lead in round three which ended at 11:9 in her favour. In the fourth, Mary was her usual composed and confident self, increasing the lead to seal the issue.
She now meets Alice Kate Aparri of the Philippines in the semi finals Saturday. Pooja Rani comprehensively defeated Undram Erdenesoyol of Mongolia 28:6 in the 75 kg category.
