Shastri XI won the Varroc Cup under-14 selection cricket tournament organised by Dilip Vengsarkar Foundation by beating Tendulkar XI at Oval Maidan yesterday.

Shastri XI who scored 221 on Thursday, bowled out Tendulkar XI for just 104 to gain the vital first innings lead and the title. Left-arm spinner Mushir Khan was the hero of the win as he claimed five for 39. He was well supported by off spinner Faizan Rabbani (3-15).

For Tendulkar XI, Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a fine 54 in his lone fight. The winners received the trophy from former India captain Dilip Vengsarkar, BCCI's Game Development Manager Prof Ratnakar Shetty and former Mumbai off-spinner Ranjan Baindoor.
In another match, Vengsarkar XI fell short of their victory target by 10 runs against Gavaskar XI, who had scored 243. Vighnesh Kharge (61) and Divyansh Saxena (56) added 47 for the fourth wicket.
In vain
Saxena had another useful partnership (82) with Vedant Murkar (44), but once this pair was separated, the last five batsmen managed just 28 runs to give Gavaskar XI two points for their first innings lead. Medium pacer Yash Singh claimed 7-92 and won the man-of-the-match award.
