This is Prabhu Deva's second directorial venture after Wanted, which is also a remake of a Telugu film Pokiri and was the biggest hit of the year. He also directed the Tamil version with the same movie.

A well-placed source says that it is an official remake of Vikramarkudu, which was originally directed by S S Rajamouli and stars Ravi Teja and Anushka Shetty.

The film was given an 'A' certificate because of the vulgar comedy and violence. It has been remade in Tamil as Siruthai and in Kannada as Veera Madakari. The Tamil remake went on to become the biggest hit of the year down south.

After long time
The movie is also being touted as Akki's return to action after a long stint of rom-coms and dramas. He will be seen in a double role since the original has the lead actor in a double role, too. Sonakshi Sinha will team up with Akshay in RR, after Joker.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali is co-producing the action entertainer with the designer Shabina Khan.
