Girls, get ready to droole, ogle and sigh. Bollywood's sexy dude John Abraham is ready to take off his shirt and flaunt his eight-pack abs. The brand ambassador of the upcoming Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon, John talks to CS about how he worships fitness:
Health first
I don't visit any temple, church, mosque or gurudwara. Fitness is my God. The gym is my place of worship. My body is my temple.u00a0 The time I spend in the gym is my time and I'm the happiest there. I enjoy training and my trainer, Vinod Channa, makes it all the more fun as he promotes total fitness and not just body building.
Role play
I have grown up watching Sylvester Stallone. The first time I saw him, I wanted to be like him. He has been my idol. Since then, healthy living has always been a priority. And those who think that a good body takes shape overnight, guys let me tell you that it's a myth.
Fitness is 60 per cent mental and 40 per cent physical well-being. It is like fighting cancer at the mental level first to overcome it physically. At times, I cry in the gym when I feel that I haven't reached a mark.
But yes, my fitness is at times guided by the roles I play. My new eight-pack look, which will soon be there for all to see in Nishikant Kamat's film, is the result of four months of intense training. And though I've been a good student, my trainer just rates me at 20 per cent.
Shape up
Workouts are difficult and you need constant self-motivation to achieve the desired results. And so to bring some variation in my regime, I run five to six kilometers daily. But let me caution you, intense or rigorous training needs sound medical knowledge and a personal trainer to guide you.
Sports have played a bit part in my health regime. I've played a lot of football in my younger days. It was, is and will always be my favourite sport. But soon I will start training for squash. I think squash is a magical exercise and can help you get in shape in no time.
