We both respect each other as professionals. We do talk about our work, but the final decisions remain with us," he told IANS in an interview.
The two have no immediate marriage plans at the moment, and have just moved in together.
"Not planned as of now. We have just moved in together. We are happy and are concentrating on our careers," he said.
Kunal will be seen in Zombie comedy film "Go Goa Gone" soon and said that shooting for it was a memorable experience.
Directed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K, "Go Goa Gone" also features Saif Ali Khan, Vir Das, Anand Tiwari and Puja Gupta.
"Raj came up with the idea that we want to make a Zombie film and then we started writing it. The film has been an exciting and fulfilling experience. The trailer has been received very well," he said.
After having worked as a child actor in films like "Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke", "Raja Hindustani", "Zakhm", Kunal made his comeback into the industry with films like "Kalyug", "Superstar", "Dhol" and "99", which were not received so well by the audience.
"I would like to believe that I am still new. As a kid, I was playing a character, so the film was not on my shoulders. I did 11 films out of which three were appreciated and remembered. At that time no one was following my career, so it was easier. But now when you are a mature adult, it's a different experience," he said.
The actor feels that he is still in a position to refuse a film he doesn't like.
"I guess I am still lucky enough to be in a position where I still get to select what I want to do and don't need to do everything which comes my way," he said.
The actor has acted in different genres and is grateful for being able to do that.
"I love acting and the whole idea of being in front of the camera. As an actor you get to play different roles and genres. I feel that it pleases and satisfies me to do different genres as it can get repetitive," he said.
