Zeenat Aman shares her near-death experience: 'There was nobody at home'

Zeenat Aman recently took to her official Instagram and shared her ordeal of a near-death experience. The yesteryear diva nearly choked on her BP medication.           View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Zeenat Aman (@thezeenataman) Dropping a stunning picture of herself on Instagram, Zeenat Aman wrote, "In the risk of sounding like an old lady suffocating on her tablets, allow me to share what happened last night. It was the end of a long day of shooting at a studio in Andheri East. I had returned home to an ecstatic Lily, and after giving her the attention she is entitled to, I swiftly went through my night rituals. My very last task before I could surrender to sleep was to take my blood pressure medication." Sharing how she struggled to swallow the pill, the diva wrote, "I popped the pill into my mouth, took a sip of water, and then felt my breath catch. There it was, this little pill lodged in my throat. Too far down to regurgitate and too far up to swallow. I could still breathe, but it was restricted. I took another drink of water, and then another, and another, until the glass was empty but the pill remained stuck." Zeenat Aman further added how her son, Zahaan Khan, came to her rescue: "There was nobody at home with me other than the dog and the five cats, and panic began to set in. The doctor’s number was busy, so I made frantic calls to @zanuski, who abandoned his plans to rush over. As I waited for him, the discomfort in my gullet grew. I could think of nothing but that deviant pharmaceutical robbing me of easy breath. There’s no dramatic ending to this story. Zahaan arrived, we finally got through to the doctor, who said it would dissolve in time, and I spent the next few hours sipping warm water and waiting." She concluded, "Sometimes it’s important to tackle an issue head-on. To confront, challenge, and change. But sometimes a situation requires those other softer acts of patience, restraint, and equanimity." In the meantime, Zeenat Aman will shortly be a part of Manish Malhotra's "Bun Tikki" and Netflix's "The Royals." This story has been sourced from a third party syndicated feed, agencies. Accompanied by his wife Kareena and family members, the actor was spotted wearing jeans and a white shirt, paired with black sunglasses, as he walked out of the hospital and got into his vehicle amidst heavy police bandobast. The actor underwent a supramajor spinal surgery (5 a.m. to 9 a.m. on January 16) to remove the broken metal piece (knife) and cosmetic surgery for multiple stab wounds on his neck and hand. He was admitted to the hospital in the early hours of January 16 with multiple stab wounds on his neck, hand, and spine.  Chief Operating Officer at the hospital on Saif’s case Speaking to MiD Day, Dr. Niraj Uttamani, Chief Operating Officer at the hospital, said, "The actor’s health is good, though the surgical wounds will take some time to heal. From the hospital’s end, the actor is absolutely fine at the time of discharge." When asked if the actor had been called again to the hospital for follow-up, Dr Uttamani replied in the affirmative, stating, "The actor will be in touch with Dr Nitin Dange, Consultant Neurosurgeon, who operated on him for the removal of sutures." On whether any post-operative physiotherapy has been suggested, the COO said, "The treating neurosurgeon or the actor’s family will decide if required." Attempts to contact Dr Nitin Dange did not yield any results. Meanwhile, the investigating police team will be recording the actor’s statement in the coming days. The statement will be corroborated with the arrested accused’s submissions, and if required, the accused can be further confronted on any new leads that emerge from the actor’s statement, said a police officer requesting anonymity. About Saif Ali Khan’s stabbing case Saif Ali Khan was stabbed six times by an intruder who barged into his house in the early hours (around 2:30 a.m.) of Thursday. He was rushed to Lilavati Hospital in an autorickshaw by his elder son and caretaker. Dr. Nitin Dange, Consultant Neurosurgeon, who operated on the actor’s spinal wound, said, "The actor had sustained a major injury to the thoracic spine due to the broken piece of knife that was lodged. The surgery was done to remove the foreign body and also fix the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leakage. Luckily, it was a dural spinal injury (the outermost layer of tissue that covers the spinal cord) and did not impact the spinal cord. The actor is responding well to the treatment, and we have kept him in the ICU for observation. He will be moved out of the ICU by tomorrow (Friday) and should be discharged on or before Monday." Sources within the hospital revealed that a 3D CT scan was done prior to the surgery, and a broken metal piece lodged in the spinal area was visible in the image. The neurosurgeon surgically removed the metal foreign body, which was later confirmed to be a broken knife piece.

'Sushant Singh Rajput wasn't a mad guy': Manoj Bajpayee

Bollywood actor Manoj Bajpayee, who shared screen space with Sushant Singh Rajput in the film Sonchiriya recalled bonding with him on the sets. Given their Bihar connection, Manoj, who recently appeared on Mid-day’s podcast series The Bombay Film Journey, shared what advice he gave Sushant about the film industry and how the news of his death left him sad for 3 months. Sushant was born on January 21, 1986. This year marks his 39th birth anniversary.  ‘Sushant Singh Rajput wasn’t a mad guy’ Sushant Singh Rajput allegedly died by suicide in June 2020. He was found dead inside his Mumbai flat. His death was first probed by Mumbai Police, which later transferred the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is yet to file a closure report.  Manoj shared, “Nobody knows what happened to him. All of us are only presuming and guessing things. I have worked with him, and I can say he wasn’t a mad guy. He was fairly well-versed in too many things. He was a voracious reader. I found him reading all the time, both on the set and off the set. He had great knowledge about quantum physics. He used to talk to me about spiritualism and compare it with quantum physics. He was a fantastic mind. I would not like to come to any conclusion because I really don’t know what happened to him. Even the CBI is yet to come to a conclusion.” SSR’s death news left Manoj sad for 3 months  The film industry was in shock after learning about Sushant’s death during peak COVID-19. Manoj Bajpayee said, “I must tell you that his death news hit me so badly that I was sad for three months as if I have known him so personally and closely.” He added, “As far as the industry is concerned, we used to have chats about the industry and its politics. I always told him to keep thick skin nahi toh yeh jaan maar dengi tumhari (it will kill you). I had thick skin because I have faced so many rejections. It was a part of my life but a lot of my friends didn’t have that thick skin. They couldn’t face rejections like I did.” Sonchiriya was a slow-burning thriller, based on the life of the dacoits of the Chambal district. It had an ensemble cast of Sushant, Manoj, Bhumi Pednekar, and Ranveer Shorey, among others.
