Khan't stop grooving

Her kids are barely three, but they've already started chiggy-wiggying. And Farah Khan can't help feeling like the proud mommy when she sees the three somersaulting all over the place. But she has no intentions of forcing them to follow her steps. The choreographer, filmmaker and Just Dance judge, talks to CS about her little ones and the importance of dance in her life:u00a0

Who: Farah Khan
What: Talking about dance, her saviour and stress-buster

Little champs
My three-year-old kids have already taken to dancing, especially my son Czar. Lightning strikes him when he listens to music, and within seconds he is jumping all around. He is a fantastic performer and a complete showman. Sometimes he is so excited that he completely takes control and my daughters have to be like those chorus dancers in the background. I haven't enrolled them in any classes and I don't intend to either. I think that classes curb creativity, as they only teach a set of dance steps. I would want my kids to feel free and express themselves in whatever way they'd like to, while dancing.

Dancing queen
I am told that I took to dancing when I was two. I would play Helenji's songs and dance to them. I would force everyone to see me perform; I wouldn't even spare the guests in my house. I had a very traumatic childhood. If it weren't for dance, I would have gotten into drugs and spoilt my entire life. Dance has been my saviour; it is something that helped me look at life in a positive way. What pushed me into dancing as a profession was Micheal Jackson's Thriller. I was so awed by that video that I always wanted to be a choreographer. So I know that I'm in the right line.

The right train-ing
The most challenging song that I have ever choreographed has been Chaiyya Chaiyya from Dil Se. First of all it was a hard-core dance number and second, it had to be performed on a train! Worse, we got the train last minute for the shoot, so no rehearsals could happen. And since we couldn't tie any harness around Shah Rukh (Khan) and Malaika (Arora Khan), the poor guys had to shoot without any safety measures on a moving train in Ooty. The song was shot exactly as you see it on screenu00a0-- no camera tricks, no back projection, no special effects. And that's what makes it outstanding. After Sheila Ki Jawani and Munni people call me an item queen and I take it as a compliment. But this is not what I want to be popular for. I love doing romantic numbers, and mind you, item songs are not my favourite. I want to do a romantic song like Pehla Nasha once again. But since no one's offering me such songs, it looks like I'll have to make a film to fit such a number in. And I just can't wait to do it!
