"It was a minor thing. I was immature and hot-headed, and it involved the dignity of my sister," confesses Rahul about the brawl he had with actor/VJ Ranvir Shorey in 2002 after he allegedly assaulted Pooja Bhatt in a drunken stupor.
Rahul says he doesn't regret it. "If I had to protect my sister or mother, I'd do it again. I've been the man of the house ever since my father (filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt) left.
I know my responsibilities. I am not a loose canon. I don't smoke or drink. I'm a responsible enough to own a gun, especially since the police think I'm on the hit list of certain people. I am the anonymous son an infamous father."
He says he is surprised that his request for a gun license has been leaked to the press. "I wish government agencies would respect the code of confidentiality that exists between them and civilians.
Yes, I've applied for a gun license, but it is more for my mother's protection than mine," he says, informing that he had trained in rifle shooting while in school.
On a complete different note, Rahul says his well-known filmmaker father has shown no interest in launching him in Bollywood.

"Neither has my father shown any inclination in launching me, nor am I keen on his doing so. I'll find my own bearings in life," says the Bhatt scion, currently under police protection.
