For two years now, ever since his debut in Saawariya, Ranbir Kapoor has purposely restrained himself from performing live.

Although the financial temptation and the urge to reach out to his fans was immense, he had vowed he wouldn't go live until he felt he was emotionally and physically equipped to dance on stage to optimum capacity.

Taiyyar hoon
While all of Ranbir's contemporaries performed at various popular awards shows in the last two years, Ranbir resisted. It wasn't easy, given the zeroes on the cheques. But now, Ranbir is finally going to be seen performing live during the forthcoming awards season.

Says the actor, "I think I'm ready to go on stage. My primary reason for not doing so until now, was my lack of preparation; and I don't mean my dance movements. I had to feel ready for the stage in every sense. I wanted to have enough songs of my own to dance to. Now I think I'm ready."

Drawing a line
Ranbir thinks it's very important for an actor to draw a line between the camera range and the stage experience. "Nowadays, there's enough media exposure for all of us. Every aspect of my life is under scrutiny. I wanted to preserve at least one part of myself from exposure." Now Ranbir is ready to take that lead.

"Yes I am ready. I think my songs are all evocative." Ranbir admits he is not comfortable with direct connectivity with the people. "I'm not too much of a people person. I don't like to be the center of attention. I've been shy since childhood. And when I'm in public, I have to put on a fau00e7ade of politeness. I'd any day be on a film set than on stage."

However, this is a transition Ranbir sees as inevitable. "I'm a little tedha. If people think I'm arrogant, I can't help it. As long as the people who matter to me don't take offence to the way I am, I really don't care what the world thinks of me beyond my performances."
