Reports suggested that the original trio—Akshay Kumar, Govinda and Paresh Rawal—would reprise their roles in the second instalment. But now, there is a plot twist. Govinda says he hasn’t even been offered the laugh riot. “Nobody has approached me for Bhagam Bhag 2, or sat down for a discussion. There are stories of me doing not just Bhagam Bhag 2, but many other sequels, including Partner,” says the actor, amused by the developments. Many filmmakers are jumping on the bandwagon of franchise films. The sequel to Priyadarshan’s Bhagam Bhag, which is expected to roll next year, comes 18 years after the original’s release. A collaboration with director Vishal Bhardwaj seems like the perfect way to round off the successful year she has had. Following Animal’s (2023) wild success, the actor sealed her place in mainstream cinema in 2024 with Bad Newz, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video. It’s a change of pace for an actor who shone in Bulbbul (2020), but she asserts that one cannot undermine the love that mainstream films bring to an artiste. “I’ve never planned a day in my career. If I go into a narration and connect with the story and character, I say yes. I never think twice if it is a big or small film. I never think, ‘I have done enough commercial films. Now, let me do a Qala [2022] or a Bulbbul.’ For instance, while shooting Bad Newz, we were enjoying ourselves so much that we never thought about whether it would make money,” Dimri says of the comedy that will première on Star Gold this week. The one thing she cherishes about her success is that it allows her the freedom to fail. That’s something she doesn’t ever want to lose. She elaborates, “I want to do characters that freak me out. No one can predict what will work because the audience’s taste is changing. The biggest example is Laila Majnu [2018]. Six years after no one saw it in theatres, it re-released to packed halls this year. So, all I have is my instinct, and I go into a film with that. I consciously don’t attach a lot of worth to failure or success. I focus on box office as little as I can. Years later, what will stay with me is the experience. I want to be surrounded by passionate people.” This search for passionate collaborators has landed the actor straight on the sets of a Bhardwaj film. “He was a director on my bucket list. I am fortunate I’ve always had directors who want to know what I am thinking, how I want to approach a character. Vishal sir is clear that he has written the story, but he wants to hear how I will bring it to life. I am a director’s actor,” she states, equally excited about teaming up with Shahid Kapoor for the first time. “I’ve been a big admirer of his work. He has such a great command over his material. I’m so grateful for the film, this year and for all the good that has come!”

The Punjabi singer enthralled a sea of audience who arrived on a Thursday evening to witness him live. Like every performance of his Dil-Luminati tour in India, the singer addressed the audience in Mumbai as well. While addressing the crowd he also spoke about the advisory issued against him ahead of the Mumbai concert. Diljit reacts to Maharashtra government advisory "Maine kal poocha apne team se kuch advisory toh nahi hai mere khilaaf. Bola sab thik hai. Aaj subah utha toh pata chala advisory jaari ho chuki hai mere khilaaf. Par aap fikar na kare, saare advisory mere par hai, aap jitna maza karne aayae mai uska double karwaunga (Last evening I asked my team if there has been any advisroy isssued against me They said there is none. But today morning when I woke up I got to know that an advisory has been issued. But you have nothing to worry. All advisory is for me and I will ensure you have double the fun than what you imagined)," Diljit said speaking to the crowd about the advisory. Ahead of his Mumbai concert, Diljit and his team received a notice from the Maharashtra government which restricts him from performing on songs which promote drugs, violence and alcohol. The advisory also prohibited from making use of children on stage. So far, Diljit has performed his Dil-Luminati tour in Chandigarh, Pune, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Indore, and Jaipur. After Mumbai, he will perform in Guwahati. "Tonight, I will start the event with a thought I had while doing Yoga. I am sure you all know about Amrit Manthan!" He further said how during Amrit Manthan, all the amrit (holy nectar) went to the Devtas, while the poison was consumed by Lord Shiva. However, He did not take the poison in but kept it in his throat." Sharing his learning from the story, the singer said, "What I have learnt from this is no matter how much poison people want to throw at you, you should not take that inside. People will try to stop you, but you should never let that affect you." The singer then promised the crowd that they will have a fun time during the show, as they cheered for the actor-singer.
