Asha Bhosle is a charmer; she can engulf you in her world when she speaks, and, of course, when she sings. Her contribution to Indian music is something the whole nation (and perhaps globe) will always rave about. She celebrates her birthday today and on this occasion, we revisit some of her evergreen and classic songs.

Chura Liya Hai Tumne Jo Dil Ko

This unforgettable romantic ballad from 'Yaadon Ki Baaraat' came out in 1973 and continues to live even today. That’s the thing about the music of the 70s, it didn't have a shelf life and people still remember these melodies verbatim. Filmed on the gorgeous Zeenat Aman, the song will always live in the hearts of people.

Ek Main Aur Ek Tu

Another song that dared to be different in terms of the way it was composed was this one from 'Khel Khel Mein', starring Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor. It had a poetic rhythm to it and it still looks fresh four decades later.

Piya Tu Ab To Aaja

Helen was and will always be a stunner. She was the best choice for such thunderous numbers back in the good and golden era of Hindi Cinema. The pulsating beats accompanied by the sweet, sweet voice of Asha ji make this song what it is today.

In Aankhon Ki Masti

'Umrao Jaan', back in 1981, wouldn’t have been a classic had it not been for its timeless music. Bhosle showed her versatility through this classical song. Her voice can blend into any genre and any mood, and this song proves the same. It’s not just Rekha’s beauty, but also the breathtaking vocals of Bhosle that made this song a soother and a stunner.

Dum Maaro Dum

Another catchy song that Bhosle was associated with was 'Dum Maaro Dum' from 'Hare Rama Hare Krishna' back in 1977. Again, the song was filmed on Zeenat Aman and again, it was something very effective. The song was even remixed in 2011 in Rohan Sippy’s 'Dum Maaro Dum'.
