Have you heard? Foodies of a kind

Huma Qureshi and Sonakshi Sinha

It’s not always that you see B-Town folks addressing relevant subjects through their movies. That’s why Huma Qureshi and Sonakshi Sinha deserve to be lauded for doing a film like Double XL that tackles body shaming. The two actors not only shared great camaraderie during filming, but also interesting food chemistry on the sets. For a scene where their characters indulge in revenge eating, Huma and Sona head to a diner and order the entire menu on offer. Not surprisingly, not only the two actors, but also the crew was tempted to savour the delicacies their characters mention as part of their dialogues. “After we were done with the scene, Sona and I were super tempted to sit down and eat at the diner. We actually went on to order the same food to indulge as we were all hungry and the food dialogue just fuelled our hunger further,” recalls Huma. Sona adds, “What comes across as a comical scene was actually really tough for Huma, me and the entire cast! It was tough because we simply couldn’t manage to resist ourselves from ordering food after the shot was done. All of us sat down and enjoyed a classic diner breakfast with the works.” That’s really a whole lot of food for thought.

B’day with Pathaan

It appears that Yash Raj Films (YRF) won’t release the teaser of Pathaan during the India-Pakistan T20 face-off on October 23, as per earlier reports. Talk in tinsel town is that the makers have decided to unveil it on Shah Rukh Khan’s 57th birthday on November 2. Not surprising, as the studio had showcased the first look of the superstar from Siddharth Anand’s directorial venture when he completed 30 years in Bollywood earlier this June. While the Indo-Pak cricket match would guarantee a huge number of eyeballs, it seems that for YRF and everyone associated with the upcoming action thriller, anything related to SRK on his special day will trend and register high viewership in the digital space. So, they have opted to release the teaser in a special way on SRK’s birthday.

Thrilling times ahead

Saqib Saleem seems to be on a signing spree. After bagging director duo Raj-DK’s Indian version of Citadel, the actor has reportedly been finalised for Sudhir Mishra’s next. Even as he has begun his prep for Raj-DK’s global espionage thriller series starring Varun Dhawan and Samantha, Saqib will also start filming Sudhir’s investigative thriller next month. While the 83 actor’s character and other details in the yet-untitled film are being kept under wraps for now, we hear the rest of the cast will be known in a couple of weeks, just before the movie goes on floors.

In biopic mode

Even as Kangana Ranaut is currently working on her directorial venture, Emergency, she has signed her next film. She will collaborate with director Pradeep Sarkar for the biopic of Noti Binodini, a courtesan-turned-theatre actor who established the theatre culture in India. Kangana enthused, “I am a big fan of Pradeep ji and happy for this opportunity. Also this will be my first collaboration with Prakash Kapadia ji [writer of films like Black, Devdas and Padmaavat] and I am completely thrilled to be part of this remarkable journey with some of the greatest artistes of this country.”

Ram bonds with Japanese fans

Ram Charan, who is said to have made an impression among his internatonal fan base, is currently soaking in the fandom in Japan. He is currently in the Land of the Rising Sun with Junior NTR and director SS Rajamouli for the release of RRR. While Japan is known for merchandising their favourite anime characters and movie characters with several innovative and endearing merchandises, including cookie packages, beverage bottles, T-shirts, etc. Ram was surprised to see the range of products featuring him. The actor, who went out with wife Upasana to savour the local cuisine, was surprised to meet a bunch of enthusiastic fans at the restaurant. He was only too happy to pose with them and some merchandise for pictures.

The party season is on

After a two-year lull due to the pandemic, B-Town is excited to party this festive season. Producer Ramesh Taurani hosted his friends from the fraternity last night. Katrina Kaif, who features in the producer’s next, Merry Christmas, attended with actor-hubby Vicky Kaushal. At the time of going to press, we heard Taurani’s good friend Salman Khan was expected to arrive past midnight.

Apparently, Ranbir Kapoor, who collaborated with the producer on Ajab Prem Ki Ghajab Kahani, was slated to be present for a short while, between Katrina-Vicky’s exit and Salman’s entry at the venue. While Ekta Kapoor is slated to host her annual bash this Sunday,  Kriti Sanon, Shilpa Shetty Kundra, Manish Malhotra, Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar are said to be hosting starry bashes at their homes in the coming days as well.

Boman joining Prabhas’s next

Talk in Tollywood is that Boman Irani has been roped in for Prabhas’s next, with director Maruthi. Tentatively titled Raja Deluxe, the Telugu entertainer is slated to go on floors after a puja ceremony in a Hyderabad studio today. Incidentally, this is Boman’s second film in Telugu, after director Trivikram Srinivas’s 2013 laugh-riot, Atharintiki Daredi. What role Boman plays in this Prabhas, Malavika Mohanan and Nidhhi Agerwal-starrer will be known in the coming days.
