Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt

Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt are the industry’s top stars, but that is not enough for them to be members of an A-List group. Apparently, there is a messenger group comprising filmmakers whose names start with ‘A’. It’s another thing that apart from directors like Ayan Mukerji and Abhishek Verman, Karan Johar, too, is a member of this group that discusses and analyses the latest movie trailers and performances of the actors. The most interesting part of this close-knit group is that nothing can be forwarded outside. Reportedly, Ranbir and Alia tried every trick in the book to join the group, but they were rejected. Reason being their best friend and Brahmastra director Ayan had issued a strict diktat — no actors. Guess the A-Listers don’t want Ranbir-Alia in the group as they will also discuss the actors’ movies.

Welcome to Manali

Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna began working on their maiden collaboration, Animal, under the direction of Sandeep Reddy Vanga, in Manali yesterday. Earlier, the actors were given a warm welcome with the traditional Himachali cap and shawl. Thrilled to have begun shooting, the Pushpa actor said, “I had been waiting to tell the world about it, because not only is the story so amazing but also the team I get to work with. It’s a dream come true.” The crime drama also features Anil Kapoor as Ranbir’s father and Bobby Deol in a pivotal role.

PCJ hopes to be on a beach on her 40th

There are still three months to go before Priyanka Chopra Jonas’s 40th birthday. But that doesn’t mean husband Nick Jonas and she can’t plan her special day yet. The Quantico actor, who welcomed her first child with Nick in January this year, said in a recent interview that she is curious about where her career and life will take her. “I’m at a place where I feel like I’m at the precipice of change and I’m ready to accept it and receive it,” she has been quoted as saying. She conceded that they don’t know yet what they’re going to do as Nick and she plan each other’s birthday. But the actor sure knows  the state of mind she wants to be in when she rings in her big day. Priyanka, who is a water baby and loves beaches, signed off, signed off saying, “Also, I hope I have sand between my toes while I turn 40.”

Master story-teller

Trust Aamir Khan to pique everyone’s curiosity with his subtle messaging. He shared a video online in which, while playing cricket, he first faces the camera and says, “28 ko main tum logon ko ek kahani sunane wala hoon,” and then repeats the same to his team. After playing a shot, he is seen asking them, “IPL mein chance hai kya?” This has been more than enough to trigger the speculation if the perfectionist actor-filmmaker is unveiling the teaser of his next, Laal Singh Chaddha. If Aamir’s recent celebration of Baisakhi with influencer Ruhee Dosani and her family is any indication, he has already started the promotional campaign for the movie.

A working b’day for Varun

Varun Dhawan turns 35 on Sunday, but it is not going to be all fun and celebrations for him. The actor is shooting for Nitesh Tiwari’s Bawaal in Lucknow and will be in Uttar Pradesh for the next few weeks. That is also why wifey Natasha Dalal Dhawan has joined him on this outdoor schedule, to be around him on his special day. During the shoot, he will celebrate his birthday with his film’s team. After pack-up, Varun will have a quite intimate dinner with Natasha. Meanwhile, we are also told that the Kanpur police have withdrawn the challan they issued when Varun was spotted riding a motorcycle without a helmet. After being told that the area was cordoned off and the actor was not wearing a helmet because he was shooting a particular scene, the cops apparently cancelled the challan.

Let’s clash!

While Sidharth Malhotra’s Mission Majnu and Vicky Kaushal’s Govinda Naam Mera have booked June 10 as the release date, now Nushrratt Bharuccha has also jumped into the fray. The actor announced that her Janhit Mein Jaari is also opening in cinemas on the same day. Sharing a poster online, she wrote, “Ab tak aapne dekhi hai kayi badi badi filmein. Par ab baari hai iss womaniyaa ki, jo lekar aa rahi hai ek bada idea (sic).”

No big deal

At a time when Bollywood actors are getting slammed for surrogate advertising, their south-Indian counterparts are wowing the masses. Allu Arjun reportedly declined to endorse a tobacco brand, regardless of the fat pay cheque it came with. The Pushpa: The Rise actor doesn’t consume tobacco and doesn’t want to send any wrong message out either. While lighting up on screen is not entirely in his control, Arjun speaks out against the harmful effects of such vices and addictions whenever he can. He is environmentally-conscious and encourages planting more trees for a positive impact on the ecosystem.

New woman in Amit’s life

Amit Sadh is said to be dating British actor Vivien Monory, who starred in Liam Neeson’s Ordinary Love (2019). Reportedly, the two hit it off when she visited India and he helped her explore the country.

Their common love for fast bikes only further fuelled their interest in each other. Talk is also that Amit, who often flies out to spend some quality time with Vivien, had also travelled to celebrate her 26th birthday in February.
