Have you heard? B’day with beau?

Shanaya Kapoor

Shanaya Kapoor, who makes her big-screen debut with Mohanlal’s pan-India offering Vrushabha, turned a year wiser on November 3. After joining in the revelry of Shah Rukh Khan’s big 58th birthday bash, Shanaya headed to the exotic locales of the Maldives to celebrate her 24th saalgirah. Considering the pictures she has been sharing on social media, it appears that she is making the most of her birthday holiday in the company of her beau Karan Kothari. Both Shanaya and Karan shared their respective underwater photographs on social media. But the striking similarities in the surroundings of their posts are a dead give away. Interestingly, her actor-father Sanjay Kapoor also reacted to one of his posts. Alongside a selfie, the entrepreneur, who has a startup based in Los Angeles, wrote, “A wise man once said nothing at all.” Kapoor Sr commented, “The wise man was obviously me.” It’s another thing that Karan deleted his post. We hope it had nothing to do with Sanjay’s reaction.

Date teri ki!

Uh oh… Sidharth Malhotra’s Yodha has a new date with cinemas now. Previously scheduled to release on December 15, and then advanced by a week to December 8, the Karan Johar and Shashank Khaitan-produced hijack drama will now arrive next year. Alongside new posters of Sid in a rugged avatar, the makers yesterday shared that the action thriller will arrive in theatres on March 15. Talk in the trade is that the team wanted to avoid getting caught in the clutter of big December releases like Animal, Sam Bahadur and Dunki. Helmed by Sagar Ambre and Pushkar Ojha, Yodha also features Disha Patani and Raashii Khanna.

Food fundas

Pankaj Tripathi, who will be seen portraying the former Prime Minister of India, Atal Bihari Vajpayee in director Ravi Jadhav’s Main Atal Hoon, recently revealed that he ate only khichdi during the making of the biopic. Interestingly, the actor  used to make it himself. The actor shared, “I put no oil or masalas in it. I just use simple dal, chawal and local vegetables, which are available.” Explaining how the diet helped him play the character better, he said,, “To get that emotion right, you need to have a sync between the brain and the body. For that, an actor needs to eat light food.”

Priyan roots for Virat

Priyadarshan, who shot this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL) ad with Virat Kohli, shares that he is waiting for him to hit his 50th ton and cross Sachin Tendulkar’s record. “I’m praying at the Guruvayur temple for his record,” reveals the filmmaker. Calling himself a “big fan of Virat”, Priyan adds, “He is like an excited child—as enthusiastic on the set as he is on the field. And a good actor too, much better than many in Bollywood.” Talking of  the cricketer’s movie choices, the director shares, “He loves comedy films. So, he was excited to meet me. He has seen some of my films.”

Kubbra joins Sasha’s next

Kubbra Sait, who played a small but crucial role in Farzi, is set to collaborate with Shahid Kapoor again. She has been signed on for a pivotal part in the actor’s next, Deva. The action thriller, also starring Pooja Hegde in the lead, marks the Hindi debut of Malayalam director Rosshan Andrrews. While the details of Kubbra’s character aren’t known at this point in time, sources say it is integral to the plot. Last seen in The Trial, the actor is reportedly excited to share screen space with Sasha again, after director-duo Raj-DK’s thriller series.
