Oscar winning actor Colin Firth attended a high-profile dinner date yesterday - the Buckingham Palace soiree being thrown by Queen Elizabeth II for visiting head of state, US President Barack Obama.
The 50-year-old actor, who won the Academy award for his performance as the stuttering King George VI in the British drama The King's Speech, was invited along with his wife, Livia, reported Daily Star online.
The party, at the monarch's London residence, was to celebrate the US leader's visit to the UK. Firth, who met the Queen for the first time, was also keen to get the opinion of the royal lady on his performance.

"I'd love to say it will just be the four of us but I suspect there will be other people there, too. Apparently, she did watch it so it will be interesting to hear what she thought of it," said Firth, a day before the royal dinner.
